Newsweek Web Exclusive April 11, 2008 http://www.newsweek.com/id/131598/ Rabbi Jack Moline has been named and listed as No. 3 on Newsweek's Top 25 Pulpit Rabbis in America, based upon the following criteria: HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 366 Commending Jack Moline Offered February 7, 2008 http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?ses=081&typ=bil&val=hj366 WHEREAS, Jack Moline has been the rabbi of Agudas Achim Congregation in Alexandria since 1987, and he has been a respected advocate for tolerance and understanding in the City of Alexandria for 20 years; and WHEREAS, Jack Moline has been an inspirational teacher, guide, and student of Judaism, inspiring the congregants of the Agudas Achim Congregation to give back to their community; and WHEREAS, Jack Moline has supported many city programs and activities that focus on education and the greater needs of the Alexandria community; and WHEREAS, over the years, Jack Moline has been a valuable advisor to city managers and the Alexandria City Council on many public issues and has participated in numerous civic events and activities, including the Call to Community, Days of Remembrance, 9 - 11 Remembrance, and Martin Luther King Day; and WHEREAS, Jack Moline partners with other Alexandria clergy in their mission to increase tolerance and understanding of all faiths and peoples; he has been an effective member of the Interfaith Council; and WHEREAS, Jack Moline was instrumental in launching Operation Understanding, which encourages respect, understanding, and cooperation between the African-American and Jewish communities; and WHEREAS, Jack Moline has worked for 20 years to promote harmony and understanding among his fellow citizens and to create partnerships within the community that will continue to enhance the quality of life in Alexandria; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Jack Moline for his longtime service to the Agudas Achim Congregation and the City of Alexandria; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jack Moline as an expression of the General Assembly's appreciation of his many achievements and best wishes for future success. |
